HUNGRY FOR THE TRUTH
Written by Sheri Miller
Man, I’m scared of everything
But I’m most afraid to begin
I’ve had the world collapse on me
While it still had the nerve to spin
It’s so hard to believe anyone
I can barely trust my own blood
When you held me closely, your arms ‘round me
You pushed in my back the gun
But I’ve had enough
I’m hungry for the truth
Bite the hand that feeds
Starve if I have to
Keep my dignity
I’m hungry for the real
Learning to let go
I’m getting closer to my way home
The truth is not an easy road
But I will walk alone
I’m unclear if I’m still in love
I don’t think I ever was
When kisses become a movement of lips
And stars are just pieces of dust
You sent me a sign, a bird in the sky, I looked closer
It was a plane
There’s a thin line between staying for love or fear of change
But don’t mistake
I’m hungry for the truth
Bite the hand that feeds
Starve if I have to
Keep my dignity
I’m hungry for the real
Learning to let go
I’m getting closer to my way home
The truth is not an easy road
But I will walk alone
I once was a girl who sold her own sister
I once was a child whose mother betrayed her
I once felt my angel touch me with light
Whispering “you are not alone tonight”
I’m hungry for the truth
Bite the hand that feeds
Starve if I have to
Keep my dignity
I’m hungry for the real
Learning to let go
I’m getting closer to my way home
The truth is not an easy road
But I will walk alone
I will walk alone
I will walk alone
I will walk alone
